Office of Early Childhood
The Office of Early Childhood promotes and enhances positive growth, development, and learning for every Utah child from birth through age 8. Several early childhood programs are housed within the office, which collaborates with other state agencies and community partners to improve the quality of all early childhood programs and enhance access for families across the state.

Preschool Development Grant
In 2023, Utah's Office of Early Childhood received the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) Renewal Grant. One of the activities funded by this grant was the gathering of quantitative and qualitative data about Utah's children from birth to age 8. Interviews of early childhood professionals, family focus group feedback, and published data was compiled and analyzed to create an updated Early Childhood Needs Assessment for Utah. The 2023 Needs Assessment informed a revised Strategic Plan, published in June 2024, which will be used to direct policy and actions for improving Utah's early childhood system for the next 5 years. Combined, these documents serve as a roadmap to improve services for Utah families and children.
