Early Childhood Utah projects

Mastering Medicaid workshops

The Mastering Medicaid Workshops hosted by ECU equip family support professionals with the skills required to guide families through the Medicaid application and enrollment process. These workshops also review recent and upcoming changes to Medicaid, CHIP, and Marketplace insurance. Since 2025, these workshops have trained over 400 professionals, including clinical staff, Community Health Workers, care coordinators, early childhood service providers, and more, giving them the tools to help families get healthcare coverage and establish a medical home.

Fresh air in classrooms: over 29,000 children served

In early 2026, the Early Childhood Utah program received funding to purchase replacement filters for air purifiers which had been purchased with by the Department of Health and Human Services Division of Population Services with COVID funding in 2020 and 2021. These had been placed in classrooms, but because of the high cost of filters, some teachers were even vacuuming their old filters to continue using the machines. Our PDG funded care coordinators were able to deliver filters to these child care programs and elementary school classrooms, supporting good health and learning throughout the state.
